Starting a new role in a completely new industry can feel scary – exciting, but daunting.

Now that Faye has reached the six-month mark at DigitalKOG, it feels like the perfect time to reflect on how far she has come, what she’s learned, and what’s made this experience so enjoyable so far.

About Me

Before joining DigitalKOG, my background was a little different from the typical marketing route. I studied Drama at Edge Hill University, a degree that allowed me to fully embrace my creativity. I’ve always loved theatre, performing and creative writing, and drama felt like the perfect way to explore all of that.

After graduating, I stayed at Edge Hill and worked in the student recruitment team. This role gave me the opportunity to travel the country promoting higher education and a university I loved. After around a year and a half, I moved into a more communications and CRM-focused role, where I was introduced to the world of marketing and had the opportunity to participate in a social media project.

This sparked a passion for me, and I started developing skills in campaign building, copywriting and design, which have all become so valuable in my role at DigitalKOG.

My Role At DigitalKOG

At DigitalKOG, I work closely with the social team to prepare, build, publish and analyse paid social media ads for a variety of clients. No two days are the same in this constantly evolving sector, which is something I really enjoy.

Each month, I gather media and imagery for paid social posts and turn these into eye-catching ads that are then published to our clients’ target audiences. One of my favourite parts of the process is monitoring performance and analysing how each ad performs, using the results to understand what’s working well and how we can continue to improve future campaigns.

Collaboration is a huge part of my role. I regularly work alongside teams across the business, including creative, PPC and copywriting, to ensure our campaigns are consistent, polished and aligned with each client’s goals and branding. I also help produce monthly reports for clients, showcasing campaign performance and successes, which are then shared directly with them.

A Big Achievement

Coming from a completely different sector, one of my biggest achievements so far has been learning how to use social media platforms and ad software accurately and effectively. In just six months, I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of how social media can be used strategically to help businesses reach their goals.

It’s been a steep learning curve, but also incredibly rewarding to see how far I’ve come in such a short space of time.

Highlights So Far

One of my favourite work highlights has been helping to create a storytelling campaign for one of our larger clients. Being able to use my creativity to build something from scratch, which was liked and approved by the client, was both exciting and rewarding.

This project was a real team effort. I worked closely with the creative and copywriting teams to develop the idea further and ensure everything aligned with the client’s branding. I also really valued the constructive feedback from my fellow social team members and enjoyed learning from colleagues with more industry experience.

Outside of work, a highlight was the team Christmas day out. It was such a fun way to celebrate everyone’s hard work and spend time together away from the office, something that really reflects the positive culture at KOG.

My Biggest Learning Curve

Working in social media has taught me just how fast-paced and ever-changing the industry is. Platforms, trends and algorithms are constantly evolving, which has pushed me to think proactively and adapt quickly. While challenging at times, it’s also one of the most exciting parts of the role.

Looking Ahead

As I continue my journey at DigitalKOG, I’m excited to keep learning, especially when it comes to META and paid social. I’d love to work on more creative projects like the storytelling campaign and also develop my knowledge of organic social further.

The last six months have flown by, and I’m really proud of everything I’ve learned so far. I’m looking forward to seeing where the next part of my DigitalKOG journey takes me.

So are we, Faye!
